ENGIRO GmbH was founded in March 2010 as a union of competent partners from the industrial and research sectors. Our common goal is the development and manufacture of high-performance electrical machines, electric transmissions and drive systems. Dr.-Ing. E. A. Werner serves as our General Manager.
Furthermore, we have succeeded in recruiting such recognized experts as Prof. Dr. Rik De Doncker, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr. h.c. Kay Hameyer, Dr. rer. nat. Gerhard Reiner and Dr. rer. nat. Werner Weck to serve on our scientific advisory board.
ENGIRO is the logical result of the concentrated know-how of each and every member. For example, Dr. Reiner and Dr. Weck, both physicists formerly with the Garching Research Center near Munich, have been working for many years on developing compact, high-performance electric motors and the associated electronic control systems.
Prof. Dr. Hameyer acquired many years of experience in the industrial arena before becoming Director of the Institute for Electrical Machines (IEM) at RWTH Aachen University. This institute focuses on such issues as developing PM machines, asynchronous machines and reluctance motors. A further key area is the acoustic optimization of electric motors.
Prof. Dr. De Doncker is Director of the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA) of RWTH Aachen University as well as Director of the E.ON Energy Research Center in Aachen. The ISEA concentrates on the entire area of control and power electronics, and is thus, in terms of technology, the logical complement to Prof. Hameyer’s area. In cooperative development projects, ENGIRO GmbH can take advantage of the testing equipment of both institutes.
The ENGIRO registered offices are currently under the same roof as ISATEC GmbH on the west side of Aachen – in the immediate vicinity of the ever-expanding research facilities of RWTH Aachen University and the new campus. The mutual support between ENGIRO and ISATEC generates unique added value for our customers. Thus, ENGIRO profits from its cooperation with ISATEC in the areas of design and structural analysis. Conversely, ISATEC utilizes ENGIRO’s competence: Here, machine concepts and particularly the field simulations and designs of electric motors and generators are developed and refined. In this process, we use not only dedicated commercial software but a range of in-house developments as well.
