For the new construction of a ferry boat for 60 persons, an outstanding efficient and quiet drive was required. For this purpose, ENGIRO has specially optimized a motor from the 260 series to low speeds and high torque so that a reduction gear could be eliminated. Our partner company EP Technologies was reponsible for overall system integration work, battery-pack and control components.

In March 2018, the new drive proved its enormous thrust for the first time in the bollard pull test. In driving operation, the new motor also surprised with unexpectedly smooth running and energy consumption far below the empirical values of other motors.
